2012 Lowman Award Winner
Bob Mariani
Each year, the La Contenta Men’s Club gives out an award to there “Player of the Year” called the “Lowman Award”. The Lowman Award is named after Wallace “Lucky” Lowman, who has been a stable figure in the Valley Springs community since the early 70’s. This years recipient of that Lowman award is Bob Mariani.
Bob retired from the Aero-Space industry in the early 90’s and moved to the Valley Springs area from Sunnyvale with his wife Shirley (Married 57 yrs in May) and Dog Trouble. Bob and Shirley had a place at Lake Comanche since the mid 70’s, where they water skied and fished for many years and stumbled on to the golf course at La Contena. They purchased a home over twenty years ago and called Valley Springs there home ever since.
Ever since moving to VS, Bob has been very active in the community and at the golf course. Bob has worked at La Contenta and been a member of both the Men’s Club and the Senior Association, holding seats on both boards, multiple times. He was a board member at Mark Twain Hospital for a handful of years and has been one of the most active members of the Knights of Columbus in Calaveras County. Through the Knights of Columbus and Blood Source of America, Bob puts on six blood drives a year for the past eight years. All the blood that is gathered through Bob’s blood drives stays and helps the people and hospitals of Calaveras County.
The La Contenta Men’s Club Board is proud to have Bob Mariani as its 2012 recipient.
