Elite 8 - 2015
The annual Elite 8 has been tweaked for 2015. It is now divided into first half and second half. A total of 6 tournaments are eligible in each half with only 5 tournaments being counted toward points to qualify for the Elite 8. If a member competes in more than 5 tournaments in either half, the top 5 tournament points earned will be used. The four top point leaders from each half of the season will compete at the Turkey Shoot in November. Once you qualify in the top 4 in the first half of the season you are in the Elite 8 finals automatically. The Member/Guest, Turkey Shoot, and Ham Shoot tournaments are exempt from the Elite 8 and no points will be awarded for either of these tournaments. Each Elite player will contribute $25 towards prize money with the club contributing the balance to a total prize fund of $800.00. It will be a low net tournament with guaranteed prize money for each participant as follows:
1st place = $200
2nd place = $150
3rd place = $125
4th place = $100
5th place = $75
6th place = $60
7th place = $50
8th place = $40
In addition to the Elite 8 tournament, the top overall individual point winner for both halves of the season combined will be awarded a free 2016 La Contenta Men’s Club membership.
Tiebreaker: In the event of a tie for 1st place and 4th place, the following rules will take place.
Tie Breaker #1:
This tie breaker will be based on Total Points then Tournament Participation Points (Maximum of 5 tournaments per half). For example:
Member | Place Finished Based on Total Points | Total Points | Tournament Participation Points | Place Finished After Tie Breaker #1 |
Tom | 1 | 410 | 110 | 1 |
Jim | 1 | 410 | 100 | 2 |
Ron | 2 | 370 | 95 | 3 |
Bob | 3 | 365 | 95 | 4 |
Mike | 4 | 360 | 90 | 5 |
Jeff | 4 | 350 | 80 | 6 |
Tom would finish in 1st place because his Tournament Participation Points are higher than Jim’s. Therefore Jim would finish in 2nd place.
Bob and Mike are tied for 3rd place. Bob and Mike are still tied after this Tie Breaker so we have to use Tie Breaker #2.
Tie Breaker #2:
The second tie breaker will only be used if the first tie breaker fails to determine the top four. This Tie Breaker is based on how a player placed in all tournaments.
In this example, Bob has two 1st place finishes therefore Bob gets the 4th place in the playoff. If the members are tied for 1st place finishes then we would look at 2nd place and so on. This would repeat down the line until we have a winner.
| 1st | 2nd | 3rd | 4th | 5th | 6th | 7th | 8th | 9th | 10th |
Bob | 2 | 1 | 1 | 0 | 1 | 0 | 0 | 0 | 0 | 0 |
Mike | 0 | 2 | 3 | 0 | 2 | 0 | 0 | 0 | 0 | 0 |
Since Tie Breaker #2 has now been applied, the results are shown below:
Member | Place Finished After Tie Breaker #1 | Total Points | Tournament Participation Points | 1st Place Finishes | Place Finished After Tie Breaker #2 |
Tom | 1 | 140 | 50 | N/A | 1 |
Jim | 2 | 140 | 40 | N/A | 2 |
Ron | 3 | 130 | 40 | N/A | 3 |
Bob | 4 | 120 | 40 | N/A | 4 |
Mike | 4 | 120 | 40 | N/A | 5 |
The top four would advance to the Elite 8 Skins game during the Turkey Shoot.
